Avoid tooth loss can be a constant struggle for those who suffer from various dental problems.
Risk factors that cause tooth loss
- Never have professional dental care
- Do not use toothbrush
- Smoke
- Suffer from diabetes
- Having high blood pressure
- Having rheumatoid arthritis
- Being older than 35 years (old age begins to take its toll)
- Being male (usually are neglected)
The teeth are more likely to fall because of gum disease. That’s why one of the major global problems of tooth loss is periodontal disease, researchers say.
Some physiological factors can not be controlled, but others like maintaining good oral hygiene rely heavily on you.
If you are a person who continuously smoke or if you do not brush your teeth as it should be, then you have to be very clear that your teeth will eventually deteriorate to the point of falling.
Also health problems can affect your teeth
Almost one in five patients had type 2 diabetes association between gum disease and diabetes is clear, the researchers say.
More than one in 10 patients had high blood pressure. The researchers note that in a previous study an association between gum disease and high blood pressure in postmenopausal women was reported. However, the links between gum disease and high blood pressure can not be sure yet, according to the researchers.
The study also shows strong link between rheumatoid arthritis and tooth loss due to gum disease. However, that link is not yet clearly established
Paying the consequences of poor oral hygiene …
According to the research mentioned above:
- Almost 40% of patients reported that they had never received a professional dental treatment.
- 13% said they had gone to professional dental care for about 6 months before losing the tooth.
- Most patients, 60% said they never or only occasionally brushed their teeth.
- Only about 16% reported brushing their teeth at least twice a day.
Finally, most people do not care about their dental hygiene.
